Contec Projects (2017) Limited, a mechanical services company, is looking for a Field Service Technician - Water & Wastewater Systems to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of lift stations, pump systems, and water plants around Manitoba. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and/or electrical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently, as well as communicate effectively with customers and municipal officials.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Respond to calls and texts from customers, including troubleshooting issues over the phone.
- Coordination & Scheduling: Contact clients to coordinate maintenance and schedule sub-trades required to execute the work
- Lift Station Maintenance: Perform regular cleaning, inspections, and maintenance of lift stations to ensure optimal operation
- Treatment Plant Maintenance: Inspect pumps, mixers, diffusers, valves, piping systems, provide recommendations for maintenance, and provide on-site repairs
- Piping Systems: Measure piping and determine layout for new headers, drop pipes, and valve locations. Create material lists and estimate project duration
- Electrical & Automation: Review and troubleshoot Miltronics, Multismart Controllers, PLC panels, relays, overloads and contactors
- Commissioning & Testing: Commission lift stations and conduct draw-down tests to ensure proper functionality.
- Equipment Management: Ensure the truck is stocked with necessary equipment and supplies, including safety gear (gloves, Tyvek suits, mask cartridges, hand tools, etc.)
- Supervision & Execution: Execute daily plan, work sequence and paperwork, completing tasks in an efficient and safety conscious manner
- Safety: Perform safety audits and monitor safety equipment and supplies
- Team Training: Train and mentor new employees working on your team.
Job Qualifications
- Must demonstrate a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Punctual and available to work full-time and overtime, as needed
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills
- Ability to identify and manage opportunities and risks on the project with clients
- Must be able to work with little supervision; be self-directed
- Willing and able to work out of town overnight, on a limited basis
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Preferred Skills & Trade Qualifications
- Millwrights, Plumbers, Pipefitters: 5+ years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, and piping.
- Water and Wastewater Treatment Operators: 5+ years’ experience with treatment processes, planning, maintenance, SCADA systems, lift station operation, process control, and control panels.
- Power Engineers: 2nd or 3rd Class with experience in lift station troubleshooting, maintenance, planning, project scheduling, electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, training, and supervision.
